ELITE PROGRAM

Objectives of the Elite Program

  • Encourage competitive runners who are legal residents* of Georgia and other Southeastern U.S. states (AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TN) to compete and win the top divisions in the 2012 Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon.
  • Since the Publix Georgia Marathon has been named the 2012 RRCA Georgia Marathon Championship Race, the top Male and Female Open, Masters (40+), Grand Masters (50+), and Senior Grand Masters (60+) winners from Georgia will also win an RRCA Championship Race award, in addition to any applicable prize awards.

*Legal residency for the 2012 Elite Program is the State on the participant’s driver’s license.

 

Elements of the 2012 Elite program

  • Qualifying Times for the first Start Corral – The participant must mail (528 Plasters Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30324), email (info@georgiamarathon.com) or fax (404-892-8384) documentation of their qualifying finish time at a USATF-certified race on or after 1/01/10 and a copy of their driver’s license. Documentation must be received at the Publix Georgia Marathon office by 2/10/12.

Marathon Qualifying Times:
Men – 2:30:00
Women – 3:00:00

Half Marathon Qualifying Times:
Men – 1:15:00
Women – 1:30:00

  • Complimentary entries – The following qualifiers for the first Start Corral will receive complimentary race entry:
    • The first 20 Male Marathoners that qualify for the 1st Start Corral
    • The first 20 Female Marathoners that qualify for the 1st Start Corral
    • The first 10 Male Half Marathoners that qualify for the 1st Start Corral
    • The first 10 Female Half Marathoners that qualify for the 1st Start Corral

Please note, the entry fee will not be reimbursed if the runner has already registered.

  • 3 Prize Schedules – Eligible runners can win prizes from multiple Schedules
    • All participants are eligible to win prizes on Schedule 1
    • All legal residents* of any Southeastern U.S. State (AL, FL, GA, LA, MS, NC, SC, and TN) are eligible to win prizes on Schedule 2.
    • All legal residents of Georgia are eligible to win prizes on Schedule 3.

No travel or expense stipends are provided to first corral qualifiers or winners.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • All prize winners are based on clock time.
  • Legal residency for prize winners is the State on the participant’s driver’s license.
  • Southeast States are: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
  • Participants are eligible to win prizes from all Schedules for which they have the required legal residency. Double-dipping and triple-dipping are allowed for eligible participants.
    • All participants are eligible to win prizes from Schedule 1. 
    • Legal residents of any listed Southeast U.S. State are eligible to win prizes from Schedules 1 and 2.
    • Legal residents of Georgia are eligible to win prizes from Schedules 1, 2, and 3.
    • Example – If the 1st Open Male Marathon finisher is from Kansas and the 2nd Open Male Marathon finisher is from Georgia, the 1st finisher receives $1,000 from Schedule 1 and the 2nd finisher receives $500 from Schedule 1 plus $1,000 from Schedule 2 (1st SE States) plus $1,000 from Schedule 3 (1st GA) which totals $2,500.
  • Schedule 1 prizes go to the overall winners and coincide with the overall finish times on the Results webpage.  Schedule 1, 2, and 3 prize winners will be published on the event website. 
  • Prize winners will be required to fax (404-892-8384) or mail (528 Plasters Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30324) the necessary IRS tax forms (W-9) to receive their prize check after the race.
